Heavy menstruation every 2 weeks

I' ve recently lost my one yr old baby (died 25/03/09 buried01/04/09). A week after the funeral, I started menstruating, which was odd because I had missed my period, which was due on the week of his death. My period was unbelievably heavy, I literally became pale by the third day and nearly collapsed. It happened again about two weeks later, then again about two weeks later (this week)
I know this is abnormal.
I' m not on contraceptives, not sexually active (sad, I know)
A friend mentioned it might be stress related. I need to figure out what could be the cause and whether I should see a gynae, a psychiatrist or a psychologist?

It could be stress related, but start of seeing a gynaecologist.
