heartburn

my boyfriend gets heartburn alot, he doesnt realy eat during the day and when he eats its quickly so that he can get back to his work, so he never just relax and eat. i gave him pills that help for other peoples heartburn and that is gone after they have finished it, but hes heartburn doesnt go away. Is it serious? is there anything i can give to him that will help.

He may have a hiatus hernia - he may need to see a gastroenterologist for a gastroscopy ( scope of the stomach). Sometimes prescription medication plus a course of antibiotics is needed, and some people may need an operation.
