Q. Guinea Pig with Maloclusion

My guinea pig has maloclusion, the vet has examined her and says it is genetic, her jar is also not aligned properly and says she can have her teeth burred but will have to do it every 2 - 3 months, and suggests we put her to sleep, what do you think? She is only about 3 months old, and we love her dearly, but do not want her to suffer. She is very thin and we are trying to fatten her up with butternut purity baby food. Please help!

Hi Belinda You can remove the incisors and the cheek teeth but this news to be done by an experienced rodent vet. It is important to realise that you beloved pet will require a lot of special care following removal. Alternatively get the teeth burred every 2-3 months - it is not complicated and can be done without sedation Kind regards Angus Campbell
