Gout and Food

Hi Doc
Read Rob' s question and have a similar one except that my husband already takes medication. This seems to work most days but on days like today he is in terrible pain. He gyms everyday and watches his diet is a non smoker and drinks socially. What can I do to help him as far as his diet is concerned. What other alternatives are there for him?
Thanks for your time
