Dear Brenda
Gout is caused by increased purines ( a break down product of protein) that cause high uric acid in the blood, causing crystals and inflammation in the joints. The only medicine that really works is Allopurinol, which lowers the level of uric acid as it blocks the metabolism of purines. All the other medications are anti-inflammatory and just treat the symptoms. What apple cider vinegar can do is change the acidity of the blood, reducing the risk of crystals forming, but it will not prevent or cure the cause of the gout.
