It is actually not so much a disease as a hereditary shortage of an enzyme in the liver causing build up of bilirubin especially during conditions of exertion, stress, fasting, and infections. You must avoid things that may be toxic to the liver like too much alcohol, high doses of Panado, too much artificial sweetners, very fatty foods, margarine (butter is better) or foods high in preservatives. Try to eat a diet rich in fruits, vegetables, high fiber carbohydrates, and low fat meats.
