No, generally not. During your period, your body flushes out any eggs from your previous cycle. Depending on the length of your cycle, you should be safe from pregnancy for at least the 1st week or so after your period.
Sperm is able to stay alive inside you for 3-5 days, so best to abstain from sex in the days building up to your ovulation which is usually mid-cycle, and thereafter.
