My husband has SLE my son has just been diagnosed with alcerative colitis. With both being autoimmune diseases is there a connection between the two diseases?

I have done extensive research on lupus, but find most information about ulcerative colitis unsatisfactory. So far I am unable to find the link between the two diseases. Did my son inherit it from his dad or whats going on?
