Gall Bladder and weight loss

Dear Dr Breedt

I had to have my gallbladderremoved about 3 months ago.
(I am 47 years old and about 15k' s overweight, no other hassles)

The question is: Since the op, I have been losing weight (slowely but surely). I am not dieting or doing anything out of the ordinary.

Could this be as a result of the removal of the gallbladder?

Thanks

Dear Zee
No it should not be the cause. I am sure you are not sorry about the weight loss but one needs to ensure that it does not have a sinister cause, so please ask your doctor to check by doing a thorough physical examination and some basic blood tests.
