funny lump in knee

Hi there,
I have a strange " ball"  thing in my knee. Its about the size of a pinky nail and moves around when I press on it. Its not painful and soft in texture. It does not seem to be attached to my skin because it can moves quite far. What could it be?
Should I go see a doctor??
Thanks,

CJ

I suggest that you consult a doctor to have a x-ray of your knee taken, to rule out any bone fragments.
