We have a 5 year old spayed medium sized mixed terrier. She seems to have frequent problems with her anal glands, as at least once a week we notice the smell. I understand that this is not uncommon, but it seems too frequent (particularly since she''s female and I''d always thought it is more of a male problem).
We feed her one of the more expensive dry dog foods from the pet shop and don''t give a lot of treats. She gets two walks a day and generally passes fairly standard stools - though sometimes less solid than they should be. She''s a rescue dog and quite nervous and sometimes the problem seems to be stress related - but far less than it used to be.
Could you advise on anything we can do differently? Is there anything we could supplement her diet with that might help?
