Dear Lilian
What would you like to know about not eating certain food groups together? If you intend eating only carbs or protein at certain meals to lose weight, then this may promote some weightloss because: a) you will be giving attention to your diet which always helps people to eat more sensibly, and b) you may eat slightly less. However if you keep in mind that all foods, except pure lard, oil and sugar are mixtures of all 3 macronutrients (protein, carbs and fat) and that human beings are omnivores (i.e. our digestive system has developed over millennia to digest all 3 macronutrients SIMULTANEOUSLY), then the idea of splitting up food into macronutrient groups to lose weight is not really based on sound scientific reasoning. You would lose weight more effectively if you concentrated on cutting down on your total energy intake and eating less fat (37 kJ per gram).
Best regards
