Hallo Jan
A fever blister is a herpes virus infection and it lies dormant in the nerve, causing infection in the distribution of the nerve. This is the cause of the tingling, itching or burning feeling. These days it can be treated with antiviral medication if you take it within 24 hours of the first symptoms appearing.
