Eye Infection

My 9 month siamese kitten appears to have an eye infection. He has a bit of a mucus build up on his eye. How can I assist him or should I take him to the vet ? Are siamese cats prone to eye infections ?
Thanks

Dear St John Siamese

They are prone to eye infections and eye ulcers. Best for a vet to have a look.
