Eating habits

I have a 12 year old maltese. She has recently started eating more of the pet food than usual and as a result has put on some weight. The food is always available for her and the other maltese to eat when ever they feel like it. This hasn''t been a problem before.
What could be the reason for this change in behaviour?

Dear Karin

I suspect Cushings disease. Look at some pictures on the internet and take her for a blood test.
