dumb question

Dear Doc, Is it necessary to keep eggs in the fridge? I have always done it but don' t know why, probably just because there is an egg compartment in the fridge :-)
After all, in the shop they' re not kept cold...

Dear Gogga
This is not a dumb question. Despite the fact that eggs are protected by the shell and can keep well for reasonable periods at room temperature, it is a good idea to store them in the fridge, esp in the summer when our 'room temperatures' can soar. Eggs can spoil if they are kept too long and at too high a temperature, so using those egg compartments in the fridge is fine.
