Drugs and Booze

Hi Doc

DO you think a psychologist is an effective way of dealing with drug and booze abuse... Im just trying to find the best way to help someone I care about.

It depends on the psychiatrist, and his expertise a nd interests, but otentially, yes indeed. A psychiatrist with a special; interest in alcoholism can be useful, and being a qualified doctor as well, can take into consideration the physical as well as psychological aspects of the problems. And some psychologists,IF they have special experience of dealing with alcoholism, can also be very helpful. And for many people, AA is also helpful.
