Dreams

My 10 year daughter has a very restless first few hours of sleep, often calling out, or even walking around the house, then wakes up and goes back to sleep. This happens most nights. This is very frustrating for her and upsets her terribly. Is this normal and can something be done for her? She is a good student, sporty, goes to bed early and is in very good health

This very commonly happens at this age. Just reassure her that there is nothing wrong.

During the dream stage of sleep, the muscles become paralysed to prevent this happening. Especially in children, this sometimes doesn't happen, and so they act out their dreams. It will generally disappear in the teenage years.
