Dear Lil

Have the dogs mouth and anal glands checked. Notthing natural will help you with your flea problem.

Lil,

The constipation is definitely diet related. Feed your dog a good quality dog chunk such as Hills, Royal Canin, and perhaps Eukanuba.

NO house food should be given. U can add a teaspoon of olive oil to the dry chunks. Also make sure your dog has fresh water.

Secondly, make sure your dog has been de-wormed. Thirdly, a good probiotic will go a long way in restoring good gut bacteria.

Bad breath could be the result of build-up on the teeth. Give your dog a dental chew, and you could even add a specific doggie mouthwash to their water. Only available at Vets.

Good grief, Susan - calm down.

Protexin is wonderful stuff but it is not the first line of defense for either diarrhoea or constipation.

Protexin is a probiotic, to be added to food. Nothing to do with constipation.

Go and get Protexin from your petshop or vet and add it to your dogs water everyday! Works great for constipation!

chill is right. natural is not always harmless. most tick/ flea repellents are organism specific and as such will not harm your dog. I have two daxies who have had innumerable skin problems in the past but i have had great success with capstar followed by frontline.

but you will need to treat the house. have you considered a doom fogger or something similair which you can do when no one is at the house? whilst these are not ideal situations they are probably better than a flea allergy and the subsequent meds that you will need to administer just to deal with that?

No, I' m not the cybervet on this forum.

Advantage and Frontline and Programme and Capstar do not have harsh fumes, nor will they damage anyone' s lungs, nor in fact are they ' harsh poisons'  for anything except fleas.

Please don' t make the mistake of thinking that natural = harmless, by definition. There are plenty of totally natural things around that are deadly - ask Archimedes.

Hi there CHILL, are you the cybervet on this forum? We are trying to look at alternative products thats more eco-friendly than harsh poisons and stuff because things like fumigation are very bad for your family and your pets health in the end...harsh chemical fumes damage your lungs each day with all the crap we use...so that is why i am looking for natural alternatives. Do you have any ideas to help out?

The constipation and bad breath can in all likelihood be changed quite naturally by changing her diet. You give no information about what she eats - if you don' t know, go and talk to your vet.

Why do you want natural pest control for your fleas? They end up dying anyway.

Please bear in mind that fleas carry tapeworm, so if you don' t get rid of them properly, you should start researching natural remedies for those, too.
