Our expert says:
A typical appointment with a dietitian would depend on the dietitian in question and the reason why you are going for the consultation. However, in general terms the dietitian would obtain both a medical history and a diet history from the patient and then work out a diet prescription for the patient's specific condition. The dietitian may advise you to have certain tests done by your dr (e.g. let's say you suspect that you suffer from an allergy and an elimination diet does not pinpoint the allergy exactly, then you may require specific tests to be done). Depending on the condition you may require follow-up visits.
Discuss this with the dietitian when you make your appointment.
