Our expert says:
Eating grapefruit or drinking grapefruit juice is prohibited with certain drugs, but not with warfarin. The foods and supplements that need to be avoided when you take warfarin are those rich in vitamin K such as green leafy vegetables (spinach, broccoli, etc), avocado, St John's Wort, Co-enzyme Q10, and vit K supplements, as well as onions, garlic quinine, pawpaw, mango and vit E supplements in doses exceeding 400 microgram. Ginseng and possibly also cranberries may also enhance the effect of warfarin.
Grapefruit and other citrus fruits do not have a high vit K content.
