Dear Denny
No - Diabetes type 1 is a form of diabetes mellitus that happens because the insulin-producing beta cells of the pancreas are destroyed, whereas type 2 is just caused by not enough insulin being made. However, some type 2 diabetes patients need insulin because the cells that they still have do not make enough insulin even with stimulation from medication.
