depression meds for Bipolar patient

My daughter (19) has bipolar. She used Cilift which worked well. Her father insisted she stop her meds and she did (March 07). Wellbutril has now been discribed for her. Which is the best of the two to use?

Her father is iresponsibly stupid to urge ANYONE to stop taking ANY medicine prescribed for a properly made diagnosis. When and where did he qualify in Psychiatry ? Cilift is an effective antidepressant, and so is Wellbutrin. Only her psychiatrist who has assessed her poperly can decide which has a better chance of suiting her. Both would help the depressed part of Bipolar Disorder, but i she has severe mood swings and manic ( high ) episodes too, she might also need a mood-stabolizing drug. Again, only the shrink can advise on this. And persuade Dad to keep out of medical discussions until he knows what he's talking about
