depression damage the brain

Hi Doctor ,,My wife fell ill with depression ,so after numrerous visits to various Doctors ,she went for a Cat scan,,which shows that parts of the brain does,nt function properly .She walk and talk slow ,she does not concentrate ,and lost intrest in life ,,they gave her depression tablettes ,,which are not so effective..what can we do ,,Thanks.

Someone needs to explain these scan findings properly to you both. Depression does NOT cause physical brain damage and neither does the normal treatment of Depression. It's possible she has brain damage from some entirely diferent cause, though it might be making her depression more difficult to deal with. i never knew depression damaged the physical brain, ive heard
that psychosis is nerotoxic to the brain but this is not proven

quite abit in the mental illness field is not proven it seems.

its all stats and bats!
