Deep deep sleep

My son is on bipolar medication and has great difficulty waking up when he goes to sleep. He doesnt even hear an alarm or phone and it takes a lot of work to wake him up. This is causing problems for him at work because he''s late a lot of times and when he''s on standby he doesnt hear the phone ringing. Is it the medication or can something else also be wrong?

It could be the medication, or it could be his condition. He needs to discuss this with his psychiatrist.
