So why then dismiss what may be authentic feelings to the artificially induced construct/excuse of transference/counter-transference?

Because it is very much safer to do so. Because such situations can be so easily and unpleasantly abused by the most knowledgeable and powerful of the pair, in a situation where such feelings would at best be amibguous, assuming the feelings are authentic and commendable and wholesome is too advantageous to the abusers. And never forget - you are PAYING him / have hired him to perform a paticular therapeutic service, not to become a pal or lover.
It seems awfully important to you to believe that the feelings that developed in this case were genuine on both sides. I assume your therapist will be exploring why this is so important to you, rather than simply naively assuming that you are right.
