DASH recipies - people with (pre)hypertension

Hi DietDoc - Are low GI recipies suitable as part of the DASH diet for people with (pre)hypertension? Are there approved and tested DASH recipies with South African ingredients somewhere out there? Thanks, ASD

Dear ASD
You can certainly use low-GI recipes from the various books available from the Glycemic Index Foundation (visit their Website at: www.gifoundation.com) for the DASH Diet because these recipes have all been worked out by dietitians such as Gaby Steenkamp and Liesbet Delport, who have ensured that the recipes are low-GI, low-fat and low-sodium (all requirements for the DASH Diet). You can contact them via the Website and discuss this with them.
