Darkness/pigmentation Below Lower Lip

Good Afternoon

I am a 31 year old Indian female.

I have a dark patch below and on either side of my lower lip.
I am fair-skinned so these dark patches are clearly visible and don' t look nice and I' m conscious of it and, as such uncomfortable/less confident.

These patches developed over the last 10 years.

I have been advised to use a sunscreen but this has not really helped.

Is this caused by hyperpigmentation in this area.
Is it related to dry-skin?
What treatment options are available to me?
Should I use a skin lightning cream on these dark patches?
Should I consult a dermatologist or beautician?

Please advise.

Thank you!

Thank you for visiting

It sounds like chloasma (hyperpigmentation) and I suggest that you go for dermal abrasion or laser therapy. Please refer to the following site:

Do acidic foods, tomatoes or tea lead to or exacerbate the problem of darkened skin?

Your advise will be appreciated. Thanks!
