Crushing tablets to swallow

I have heard that some tablets should not be crushed if you have difficulty swallowing. I am trying Rychol (the herbal sipplement for cholestrol management) It is a hard sizeable tablet. Can I crush it before ingesting it without any negative copnsequences?

Sustained release tablets should not be crushed. Refer to the insert in the package to determine if it is slow release or not.
