Coughing and Flu

My Grandfather is 80 yrs old and a diabetic but the problem is: he'  s always coughing and gets flu every month, he went to the doc and x-rays they said they cant see anything. Like recently he was very sick with flu he went to the doc they gave medicine , he was fine for a week or so, now he is sick again with flu and the coughing neva stops even if he doesnt have flu, what could be the cause

Other causes of chronic cough could be due to certain medications ( certain high blood pressure tablets), allergies, acid reflux, or a post nasal drip.
