Contraception and Porphyria

Just want to know which is the safest contraception when having Porphyria. I have been on Yasmin since before my Dx, but lately been extremely depressed and have constant pain in my lower uterus (no physical explanations found). I also still suffer from daily acne and have gained 20kg since my Porphyria Dx. Could these be hormonal related? Would it help to go onto a different pill such as Diane or should I avoid contraceptive medicine completely with Porphyria?

It depends what type of porphria you have . The IUCD may be an option - this does not contain hormones.

Best wishes
