Constipation

Good day Doc
My father who is 84 years old suffers from severe constipation .he is on medication which is to reduce water in his lungs. He was advised by the hospital not to drink more than 2 glasses of liquids per day.

His diet is not very health it is meanly starch/ protein/bread what should we give him to stimulate his metabolism, he does not have any medical aid.

You can give him Lactulose 10-15 ml at night and stimulate bowel movement with gliserine suppositories every 2nd to 3rd day. Try to let him eat more fruit like apples, bananas or papaya.
