combined pill

when you on the pill and miss a tablet for more than 12 hours, even if it is a the begining of the pill, you are supposed to use extra protection right?
does that now mean that every time you start a pack you should use extra protection for the first 7 days because with the inactive pills it is the same as you haven' t taken any pill for 7days?

You do not have to use extra protection after the placebo pills. The extra protection is only if you miss pills in addition to the placebos. If you look at the package insert, they will tell you what to do if you miss a Pill at various stages of your cycle. Sometimes you can just carry on and skip the placebos.
