CMV

My friend lost her baby last week (9 weeks) and the doctors told her it was due to cmv but would not explain to her what it was, how she got it, could she prevent it, can she get it again etc? Government Hospitals - grrrr!

She needs to know if she can get it again, how she can avoid it and when she can try again for a baby.

Her inlaws are blaming her for the miscarriage. She is very distraught.

Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

CMV is the cytomegalovirus which is a relatively common virus in the general population. While it can cause miscarriage, recurrent miscarriage is uncommon. The usual re commnedation is to wait at least 3 months before trying again.
