Claudication = stent surgery recommended

Good day,

The doctor currently has my 75 year old aunt on Tentral and she may need to have surgery. She is reluctant since she is diabetic, has arthritis and not on medical aid. Are there any other options since she complains of the pain / tingling / restless almost all the time?

Thanks and Regards

Dear Mr N
This is actually a question only her specialist will be able to answer - one should weigh up the risks of the operation with her arthritis, age and diabetes versus her symptoms and determine which is more dangerous for her.

Thank you - I have contacted 2 of the cardioligists Tayob and O Connel and in the process of making an appointment. They are closing for the festive season. Your help is most appreciated.
God Bless and Regards

You could try Dr Tayob 031 202 7911
Prof D Naidoo 031 240 2207
Dr Guy Letcher 033 345 8702
Dr Kevin O' Connel 031 581 2561

One must really take all the factors into consideration - correct conservative treatment may bring enough relief that one does not need to operate.

Thanks Dr Bets. She unfortunately at this age will experience degenerative problems and it is taking its toll on her mental state. We find it difficult to pacify her.
Her fear / hypochodria is more harmful at this stage. Is there any specialist in Durban that you can recommend.

Regards
