Our expert says:
None of the antidepressants used by doctors "is verslawend" --- they do NOT cause addiction. Like a number of drugs, used for various purposes, once the body gets used to their presence, it may not be wise to suddenly stop taking them, and one should rather come of them gradually, on the advice of your doctor, to avoid other unpleasant symptoms arising. Sounds like, from the point of view of depression, he may well be ready to stop the medication, but he should see a psychiatrist again, for a re-assessment and specific advice on how to withdraw the meds gradually. Neiher of you, of course, have done anything wrong, but a re-assessment and advice on a plan for withdrawing the drug, would be the best idea now.
