Chickenpox

My 3 year old has chickenpox, on Sunday 21st Nov she had 5 spots in her face (around the ears). On Monday the doctor told us that it is insect bites, no more spots appeared until Wednesday 24th Nov when she had a fever and spots appeared all over her body. Dr said that because she was vaccinated most of her spots looks like insect bites. Was my 3 year old contagious from 2 days before the first 5 spots appeared? or only 3 days later when the rest appeared. I am now concerned about my 1 year old and when we can expect her to start showing signs of chickenpox? How long should my 1 year old be kept away from other children to make sure that she does not transfer this to other children?

Hallo Mienke
She was infective 2 days before the first spots appeared. Have your one year old had her chickenpox vaccination yet? One can get chickenpox 10-21 days after contact with an infected person. Only keep your 1 year old away from other children if she develops a fever or a rash. You can't keep her isolated for 21 days...
