Check up

Hi Doc

My mother was recently diagnosed with rectum cancer at 50. Should I be getting checked as well? I do see a gynae at least once a year and have a scan each time. Would any sign of cancer be picked up on a gynae scan? I hate the thought of going to a gastroenterologist to have a camera put up!

Thank you.

Hallo Anon
It will be a good idea to go for regular check ups after age 45 - stool to be sent to lab to check for blood yearly, rectal examination yearly and colonoscopy every 5 years.
