changing of contract and working hours

I am working for a very large company that are growing rapidly.
They now decided that they are going to change our contract and working hours.
We normally work form Moday 8-4.
Now they want us to work every saturday and working hours in the week from 8-5.
They say they are going to give new contracts to all the staff.
Is this right. Do the law allow this?
Please advise
