Cervical cancer

My docter told me to go for a LLETZ ( ''''large loop excision of the transformation zone'''') on the 20 April 2011. I am 38 and have had no children before. I do not have a medical aid and are worried about the procedure. Will this be painful as I cannot go to a private hospital. Please tell me exactly what they will do and will I be off sick for a long time?

Hallo Tania
It is not a big or dangerous procedure. See http://www.allhealth.com.au/html/s02_article/article_view.asp?keyword=leep
You may have some bleeding and tenderness after the procedure but should be fine to go back to work in a few days.
