Cat poo in house

Good day
For the 1st week I had my 2 month old cat, he did all his toilet business in the sand box. But lately, once a day when we''re at home, he takes a chance and try to poo on clothes over the bed or on an open space on the carpet.

But when we''re at work, he doesn''t leave any surprises for us when we come back, only takes that chance when we''re observing. He''s sand box is in a quite place, away from noise / distractions and I remove litter daily, and do once a week anti-bacterial cleaning of it

Is this a way to get attention?
Must I immediately put him in the sand box if I catch him pooing so that he can relate to his action?
Do you get spray to spray on everywhere so that the cat would avoid that area?

Many thanx
