Cat leg wound

My cat has a puncture wound just above his front left knee, it has closed and swelling is down, but he licks frequently and will not tolerate a bandage. After an hours sleep it is a red patch the size of a 10c piece, with healthy pink skin around, then he licks until it is an angry red patch bigger than a matchbox and bleeds around the edges of the 10c area. How can I get him to leave it alone?
