Q. Can colic come back?

Hi,

My baby had colic from when she was about 4 weeks old. She is now 3 months old (14 weeks). I gave her behoedmiddel which worked like a charm. I stopped giving it to her a couple weeks ago - she was completely fine without it.

Now for the past couple days, I''''ve been struggling to get winds out of her. And then when they do come out, all the milk she has drank comes out as well.

Shame I was patting her back, sitting her on my knee, bouncing her, had her on her tummy - nothing came out. Eventually she feel asleep and then woke up from being uncomfortable. I feel so terrible when I can''''t do anything to help her.

Could the colic be returning? Should I put her back onto behoedmiddel?

Your baby does seem to have excessive amounts of winds. This may be due to lactose intolerance which means that your baby may be unable to digest the natural sugar in milk called lactose. This can even happen in breastfed babies but is more common in formula fed babies. If your baby is on a formula it would be worthwhile trying her on a lactose free formula such as NAN LF. There are other lactose free formulas as well.<br>It would be best not to give her the behoedmiddel which contains alcohol.

According to our pedeatrician colic normally last in babies up to 3months it is possible for colic to last up to 6\7 months old.

We have been using probiotics which works great.
