burning on leg

Hello Dr.,

Every time I take a bath I get a burning sensation on my lower left leg near my ankle. It feels like stinging as if I burnt my leg and put it in the water. Then the area becomes red but only that are. What could be causing this?

Hallo Erica
That area of leg may have a problem with blood flow and the hot water may cause dilatation of the veins in the area, causing the burning and redness. Do you have varicose veins or did you have a previous deep vein thrombosis or injury in the leg?
