Broken Wrist

Good morning

My daughter who is in the USA, fell while she was snowboarding and broke her wrist yesterday. She is due to come to South Africa for one week, flying out on the 11 of February. They are going to operate this Wednesday. Could you please advise how major this operation is? What the recovery period is? And if you think she will still be able to fly out to South Africa.
Look forward to hearing from you. Regards Diane

Hi Diane
This is stricly an orthopedic case. An Orthpedic surgeon could reply better - but the op depending upon the extent of fractures encountered, is usually not too serious and recovery should be reasonable within 6 to 8 weeks.
The doctors in the US should also be able to give her a better opinion as they have doubt x/rayed the wrist and have seen the actual extent of injury.
