broken toe

I broke my 4th toe over the weekend and first went to my Gp for assistance. He didnt refer me for x rays and advised that there is nothing that can be done with a broken toe, it should heal by itself. Is this true?

Yes, in general the fracture will heal by itself. You can buddy strap your broken toe with the adjacent healthy toe to facilitate healing. The fracture can take up to four weeks to heal completely.
