Dear Frank
Wishing you all the best for 2009. Basically it is a good idea to eat a healthy breakfast that can certainly be based on grains and cereals. The preferred cereals are those with a low glycaemic index (GI) such as All-Bran, muesli, high-fibre Pronutro because this type of starch when combined with low-GI foods like milk or yoghurt will sustain your blood sugar levels for longer periods that high-GI cereals like sifted maize meal, Maltabella, Kreemy Meel. The longer your blood sugar and insulin levels remain steady the less likely you will be to overeat at following meals and thus to gain weight. Click on 'Diet' and 'Weight loss' and 'The Glycaemic Index' and read the articles on the GI.
Best regards
