Our expert says:
It is usually caused by Staph aureus bacteria and using an antibacterial soap to bath with (washing especially warm moist areas like in between toes, under arms and groins very well) and putting antibiotic ointment like Bactroban in your nose may reduce the level of bacteria on the skin. Staph aureus lives on the warm moist areas of our skin normally, but sometimes the bacterial levels can increase too much and then the bacteria can infect small scratches or the pores of the skin causing boils. Apply Bactroban ointment as soon as you notice a pimple starting. Do not share towels or face cloths as it is contagious. One can also take a course of antibiotics if these initial measures do not work effectively. Also check your iron levels and full blood count to ensure that your immunity is normal.
