Body Fat %

40 year old female.
Weight 73
Height 164
What is a healthy BMI and what must my Body Fat % be

Dear Honey
At present you BMI = 27,1, which is above the upper level of the normal range (18-25). To achieve an ideal BMI of 22, you would need to weigh 59 kg, thus a loss of 14 kg. However if you just manage to lose 9 kg (weight 64 kg), then your BMI would already be nicely back in the normal range at 24. According to Prof Tim Noakes in his book 'Lore of Running' normal women who are not elite athletes have a body fat% of 24%.
