Behaivor of 2 year old

Hi. My friends little boy is 2 and a half. They think, something happened to him. His behaviour is strange, or is it normal? Does a 2 year old, put their fingers in their bums (its a boy) and is it normal for him, to want to ''touch'' ''play'' ot ''tickle'' his also 2 year old friend - girl on her tummy, back or bum. She has a nappy on. And when u confront him, he knows he did wrong. He closes his eyes with his hands and shy''s away. The 1 friend - girl started screaming, and said it was sore. Is there concern? Or is this normal? Please advise!

Dear Anon.
Firstly a two year old has no hidden agenda. Young children naturally explore their bodies and those of other children. As adults there is a stigma attached to play with ones' genitals. Please do not let your friend create an issue here, unless you wish to create future subversive behavior. The fact that he closes his eyes and shies away indicates that he has been punished for his actions in the past. A two year old will naturally test his parents, so if you make a big deal of it he will push the issue.
